PC Cards for Industrial Ethernet & Fieldbus

cifX PC cards are the easiest and fastest way to integrate PC-based devices into an automated environment. Classic application examples can be found in industrial PCs for plant or local machine control, HMI (Human Machine Interface) panels for machine monitoring and operation, as well as specific solutions such as optical inspection systems, test benches, simulation systems, and robotic solutions. Our market-leading PC card portfolio includes all relevant form factors – from the smallest PC cards in the automation market for compact devices to classic formats such as 19-inch systems.

The cifX PC cards can be used both as master and slave and have multi-protocol capability, allowing you to map all leading fieldbus and Real-Time Ethernet protocols. The entire protocol stack is processed on our proprietary netX chips. The uniform platform strategy means that all card formats and protocols use the same drivers, configuration tools and a standardized API, can be deployed flexibly, and are quickly integrated. A wide range of hardware options also offers you tailored solutions for any environment.

cifX PC cards can cover all Industrial Ethernet networks with only one hardware - simply change the firmware!

cifX PC cards can be used universally and are both slave and master capable. For pure slave applications with particularly high requirements regarding energy efficiency and size, further product lines are available such as PC cards in the extremely small M.2 format.

For easy integration into different applications, all cifX PC cards have a uniform API.

For a fast integration of our PC cards we offer a large variety of device drivers. Besides a C toolkit, drivers are available for all relevant operating systems such as Windows, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, INtime and RTX.

PC Cards FAQ

Hilscher PC cards, known as the cifX series, are communication cards for PCs and embedded systems. They enable connection to fieldbus and industrial Ethernet networks and are particularly suitable for automation applications in which a computer needs to exchange data with industrial controllers.

The Hilscher cifX series is available in various form factors, including:
