With the specification, the two organizations want to realize a transparent and efficient communication between the two protocols using a coupler device. As a globally active company, Hilscher has been working with PI and CLPA for several years now and contributes to the specification with the coupler NT 151-CCIE-RE scheduled for mid-2018.
The coupler enables Asian plant manufacturers with CC-LINK IE networked machines, to map their data transparently in overlaying PROFINET networks, in order to be able to deliver and use the plants without any retroactive effect in the PROFINET dominated European market. The same applies, of course, to European plant manufacturers who want to supply PROFINET plants in the Asian market
In the following interview, Armin Pühringer, Business Development Manager at Hilscher, summarizes all the important points that have led Hilscher to develop a coupler device. (German language)
