Hilscher Celebrates 40 Years of Industrial Communication

Hattersheim, 16 September 2026 – Hilscher Gesellschaft für Systemautomation mbH celebrated its 40th anniversary. Hilscher employees and their families, representatives from business and politics, and numerous visitors from the local area joined the industrial communication specialist at its headquarters in Hattersheim for a special open house event.

Open House Welcomes Visitors From Near and Far

Hilscher’s headquarters in Hattersheim offered a wide range of activities to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. Visitors were able to take guided tours of Hilscher’s production and development facilities. The event also featured live music, grilled food, a food truck, and an ice cream truck.

There was plenty to enjoy for younger visitors as well, including face painting, a coloring competition, and a bouncy castle. The anniversary celebrations concluded with the ceremonial planting of an oak tree on Hilscher’s grounds.

From Greenfield to an Industrial Communication Specialist

What started as a company founded by Hans-Jürgen Hilscher in his own home from scratch in Hattersheim on 19 September 1986 has developed over four decades into a specialized, globally active provider of industrial communication solutions. After initially focusing on project business and proprietary developments, Hilscher introduced its first netX communication controllers in the mid-2000s. Since then, netX has been used in different versions in more than 25 million network nodes globally.
Hilscher has also continuously expanded its portfolio of secure communication solutions for fieldbus, Industrial Ethernet, and IIoT. The portfolio includes embedded modules, PC cards, gateways, software, and services.

Since the mid-2010s, Hilscher has also been driving industrial digitalization with netFIELD, formerly known as netIOT. As data-driven business models and artificial intelligence become increasingly relevant to industrial applications, this area is gaining further importance for Hilscher.

At the same time, the requirements for industrial communication continue to evolve. Higher performance, end-to-end connectivity, and cybersecurity are becoming increasingly important. Hilscher therefore relies on a long-term technology platform and supports customers with hardware, software, tools, and engineering expertise in implementing their communication tasks.

Forty years of Hilscher stand for technology leadership, reliability toward our customers, and the willingness to continuously rethink industrial communication. Our goal is to continue giving our customers reliable ways to connect their devices and plants with technologies that address both today’s and future requirements.
