Implement IIoT applications with process data from Siemens PLCs

The platform-independent netFIELD App S7 Adapter container app enables the data provision of process data from Siemens PLCs for Industrial IoT applications. The app can connect to several PLCs in parallel, thus also aggregating data from machine lines or larger plants. The S7 protocol (RFC 1006) is used to establish the connection to Siemens PLCs.

Tapping data parallel to the PLC and providing it to IoT applications enables long-term data analysis and the identification of trends and error scenarios. Plant operators benefit from increased asset productivity through predictive maintenance, minimization of downtime, and optimization of workflows.

The netFIELD App S7 Adapter periodically retrieves data (interval can be configured) from the PLCs and provides the retrieved data via the MQTT protocol. MQTT is an easy-to-use IoT protocol that is very popular with developers.

The app provides a convenient web interface for configuration. The user can configure the data points to be read from the PLC. All standard data types are supported.
