netFIELD Edge devices act as intelligent data routers between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) components in automated systems. They autonomously collect, process, and transmit data within the context of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in production and control processes. Software containers are used to flexibly equip them with desired application-specific functions.

Each device is based on a security-enhanced Linux operating system and offers a web-based configuration interface. In addition, the devices feature two independently operating container engines: one can be managed locally, while the other is controlled via the central netFIELD Cloud platform. This platform enables continuous 24/7 lifecycle management of distributed devices and containers, reducing the complexity of administrative tasks to just a few mouse clicks.

These versatile devices are suitable for any IoT-driven industrial applications. Whether you run data mining code directly on the devices or shift data processing to the cloud, the systems provide the necessary ecosystem for any use case. They enable the analysis of asset behavior patterns, process optimization, and anomaly detection. With minimal effort and a short implementation time, challenges such as building digital twins, implementing predictive maintenance solutions, and developing condition monitoring systems can be easily addressed.
