Recent developments in the field of industry 4.0 follow the same logic as many previous topics in industrial automation technology: there is the approach via proprietary solutions and open solutions.
Particularly in the area of software, this raises the question of how interfaces are structured.
This lecture deals with the netIOT strategy of open interfaces according to the REST paradigm for industrial IoT applications and shows why this approach is more likely to be successful than the use of proprietary interfaces.
Exemplary application scenarios and partnerships with large IT service providers are also discussed.
Dr. Andreas Gössling, Department Manager netIOT
